a continuation of our council’s Make a Difference theme last year, our theme this year is ‘IMPACT’.
I’m so inspired by all of our accomplishments this past year that I want our single-association council to make
a positive impact on our members, our region, our industry and our community.
membership committee has started the year strong with five new members so far, two of which are returning members.
We’re looking forward to including all of them in our committees and events so they’ll experience the full
benefit of their membership. We’re also distributing the membership brochure to guests at our meetings
and inviting them to join our organization.
One of our new members has agreed to lead our Young
Professionals Committee and revitalize the program. We’re very excited to see the fresh ideas this
group will come up with.
The guest speaker for our August membership meeting
was from the Hawaii Health Connector which is Hawaii’s Affordable Insurance Exchange for the Federal Affordable Care
Act (i.e. Obamacare). This hot topic drew huge interest, a large attendance and a lively discussion.
Our goal is to provide value to our members by continuing to offer pertinent topics of interest.
format of our meetings have changed this year. In previous years, we held our monthly luncheon meetings
at an executive club. This year, we’re offering brown bag lunches at company training centers or
large meeting rooms to eliminate financial barriers to attending our meetings. We also hope that this will
allow more members to bring guests.
I’m very excited about the changes in our council,
our region and our association. Hawaii is committed to work with our RVP, Katharine Nohr, to keep moving
A hui hou (until we meet again)!
