Welcome from the Silver
State!
Nevada State Council Meeting of IAIP October 20th,
2012 Report
We have successfully completed
our State Council Meeting for 2012 and would like to share some of the highlights.
Richard Smith and Fidiam Guerrero of Frasco Investigative Services provided a course
on “Pinpointing & Prosecuting Fraudulent Workers’ Compensation Claims: When a Claim Becomes
a Crime”. Hat’s off to an always entertaining yet informative course with these two.
Allen Kaercher was our Key Note Speaker; Allen’s
topic was “Mob Influence on Insurance”, which is keeping to our theme for 2013 Regional Conference in April here
in Las Vegas. Very intriguing 45 minutes of some interesting and in some cases, unpublished information.
We’ve taken on a new partner for community action,
City Impact Center, where we held our 1st annual Fall Fling Fund Raiser. LVIP was able to secure
several vendors selling everything from tools to jewelry; pepper spray to cupcakes – we had it all! LVIP
will be donating a portion of those profits to City Impact Center. Looking forward, we will have several
educational opportunities that include CE’s. Stay tuned for upcoming events – we are quickly
ramping up our website with a new face and new information.
Congratulations to Nancy Petru, Sierra NV Ins Prof has been elected as in-coming NV Council Director.
It was an honor and a pleasure having Nancy here in Las Vegas, and I know that we will all support her as the next
State Director.
We also had the honor
of our own RVP Lauri Oakden – who received a very special award “The Original Shining Star”, Lauri, has
given many awards away and has never hesitated to roll up her sleeves at any given moment – she is the perfect example
of what professionalism is all about!
Kris
Banfield was awarded a “Shining Star” award for all her hard work and efforts in opening up a N NV association;
SNIP which has been in the works for some time. Kris was tenacious in rallying new members and organizing
new events – well done!
Lorraine
Carrillo was awarded the “Mentor of the Year” for always being there, for always showing the way and for always
being supportive and encouraging.
I want
to give special and recognition to all our regional members that traveled so far to Nevada for our meeting: Katharine
M Nohr Esq, Honolulu Assn of Ins Prof; Tish Riley, Tri-Valley Ins Prof; Kristina Lee MAL – CA; Gail Novelich MAL –
CA; Rae Lynn Zachary San Francisco Chapter of NAIW. Thank you – each of you added so much to
the day. What a show of support for your neighboring states members.
In fellowship,
Carol
